Aug 15, 2020 NEW DELHI: India is all set to receive two wide-bodied Boeing 777-300ERs from the United States to serve as 'Air India One' that will be used to fly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath.
The new Boeing 777 aircraft for VVIPs guest is equipped with advanced defence systems and will be operated fully by IAF pilots in due course of time.

New Delhi: The first specially modified Boeing 777 aircraft, part of the Air India One fleet for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, landed in New Delhi on Thursday. “The Boeing jet landed at 3.11 pm on Thursday,” a top aviation ministry official said.
The plane was scheduled to be delivered by aircraft manufacturer Boeing to Air India in July but its delivery was delayed twice – once in July for a few weeks due to COVID-19 pandemic and then in August for a few weeks due to technical reasons – the officials noted.
Air India One is equipped with an advanced and secured communication system that allows availing audio and video communication functions mid-air without any worries of hacking or being taped,” sources familiar with the details told ANI.

The VVIP aircraft B-777 is a replacement of wide-body aircraft Boeing B-747 jumbo aircraft whose call sign is Air India One. The interior design of the aircraft is very attractive, which was modified recently by Boeing, apart from other customisations.
“The aircraft has a big suit/cabin for the VVIP, a mini medical center has also been set up in the aircraft. It also has a standard space for the press. The rear seats are of the Economy class category while the rest of the seats are Business class. B777 aircraft can fly over 17 hours continuously,” informed the sources.
Air India pilots will also be a part of the aircraft operating team till the IAF pilots gain expertise in handling the variant. Air India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) will take care of the maintenance of the aircraft.

The colour of Air India Boeing 777 had been totally changed including changes to the design of the aircraft as per the recommendations and further approval by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

© Provided by DNAIndia is all set to receive its new Plane (Air India One) Boeing 777-300ERs which will be used to fly VVIPs including Prime minister, President, and Vice- President of India, The new plane will be equipped with most advance sophisticated technologies, military defence systems and a reconfigured cabin which includes Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) and Self-Protection Suites (SPS).
The plane will also feature Advanced Electronic Warfare Suites which will not only protect aircraft from any kind of attack from the surface to air but also will be able to take countermeasures in case of an attack.
Earlier, India's VVIPs use to fly in 747 Boeing jets with some basic modifications and which were also used for the general public as well as planes belonging to the Air India fleet. A team of 40 Air India pilots is being trained alongside IAF Pilots to fly the state-of-the-art VVIP planes.

Prime Minister, President, or Vice-President sometimes have to travel long hours in 747 Boeing. However, it is not capable to fly more than 10 hours without refueling,
Top government officials told PTI that a team of senior officials of the central government have gone to the United States to receive the delivery of Special Extra Section Flight (SESF) or VVIP aircraft 'Air India One'. The officials added that another custom-made B777 plane is likely to be received from Boeing in September.
